Shitty Landlords

Is it possible that I am pre-determined to have every horrible and sleazy rental company ever? Scratch that...am I to encounter any and all shady companies? Is it bad that we have been living in this house for 8 months and have an electrical issue the ENTIRE time? FIVE people have been electrocuted in my house. It has fried 4 Dish Network boxes and one Charter modem. Wouldn't there be some legal responsibility? Not only that, they have scheduled 6 electricians to our house. Any and all work done to my house was not registered with the city, had not received permits to DO the work, and FAILED miserably to attempt to correct the problem. If you have ever heard of "Truly Noble" Electricians.....USE SOMEONE ELSE. I am not an electrician, nor have I ever claimed to be but common sense tells me that when an electrician says "don't plug anything with 3 prongs into this outlet" I probably shouldn't do that. My practical side says to also CHANGE THE FACE PLATE TO A 2 PRONG OUTLET. You know what he says to me? "Well, if I change the face plate, you'll never be able to plug anything in that has 3 prongs...like, your vacuum cleaner" First and foremost, don't attempt to relate to my life by assuming since I am the woman the only thing I would plug in would be a vacuum cleaner. Secondly, didn't you JUST tell me I wouldn't want to do that? What the fuck are you thinking? What about the other families who rent this house out after me? Are you going to stop in to let them know they shouldn't plug anything with 3 prongs into this outlet? Probably not since you are totally worthless. CHANGE THE FUCKING FACEPLATE. Do your job!!! I am NOT your supervisor and shouldn't have to watch you check every outlet in my house and make a logical decision with it. You are an electrician. I dont know what the fucking "problem" is. Why do you think we called you?

All the while Regent Realty is sitting on their fucking thumbs....whistling.

To top off my day filled with 4 Dish Network technicians (who were fantastic by the way--they stayed the whole time and made sure the shady bastards were doing the work needed) the city inspector, and every supposed electrician who worked on my house... here to FIX MY ELECTRIC...the Domino's delivery guy drops off our pizza and says "How is your air conditioner working" (which had to be replaced the second day we moved in) and my husband says "umm, ok I guess, why?"

He goes "this is a WALTER house." We are both puzzled and ask him to explain. "this guy Walter bought up all these cottages in this area and then didn't really fix them...he just put plywood on top of rotted floors and all kinds of stuff"

My husband and I look around at every single piece of furniture leaning towards the center of the room...and tip the guy 5 dollars.

I will miss this house when I leave but only for the sole purpose that it was our first home together. And I guess in retrospect, everyone's first house is the pits.

Ft Meade better be the shit (and the shit that we can afford)
